Tantrism is an Eastern Indian doctrine based on the principle of non-duality, but one does not become a disciple of Tantra with the snap of a finger. Westerners who got wind of this doctrine, which can be applied to everyday life, have created a simplified version: neotantra.

Neotantra puts forward a less phallocentric version of sexuality, among other things.

A return to the present moment

Neotantra is about making yourself available for the present moment, and focusing on what you are feeling at the moment.

Neo-tantric sex consists of releasing your sexual energies which are concentrated in your pelvis, in your sexual organ. The idea is to make the sexual energy circulate throughout your body to feel pleasure more intensely and for longer.

To achieve this, one must take the time to become aware of all these feelings and to witness our own pleasure. If you want to know more, don't hesitate to ask a tantrika.

A less phallocentric practice of sexuality

Prepare your neotantra session by creating an appropriate environment: subdued light, incense, background music, get out the massage oil, cut up some fruit...

Sexual intercourse does not necessarily involve vaginal penetration. Here is a simple exercise that you can do with a partner: Sit cross-legged, facing each other while locking eyes. This is what connects you to each other and brings you back into the present moment. As you'll see, it's not that simple, but keep at it!
