It’s looking more and more likely that I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2021 will be making a return to the jungle later this year. While ITV are believed to have secured Wales’ Gwrych Castle for a second year as a back-up option, an insider source has revealed that the Australian government has given the show the green light to return.

What are Australia’s COVID entry laws?

While Australia has managed to flatten the curve and return to something close to normal life, very strict border regulations remain in force. Travel is not allowed in or out of Australia, except to neighbouring ‘green-zone’ country New Zealand. However, it seems that I’m A Celeb cast and crew may be granted an exemption even if these rules remain in force come November.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider source confided:

Everyone is delighted with this news. All the signs are now pointing towards a return to the jungle. As great as a year in the castle was, the show is made by its surroundings and the glitz and glamour of the jungle.

They continued:

ITV have assurances from Australian border control bosses that even if a wider travel ban is still in place for tourists, they’ll get the paperwork and clearance they need to send cast and crew to Oz. It’s a big moment.

Will I’m A Celeb 2021 be filmed in Australia?

However, fans shouldn’t get too over-excited about the potential jungle yet as ITV still insists that no official decision has been made. In a statement made on Thursday night, an ITV spokesperson said:

No final decision has yet been made regarding the location for the new series.

We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed...
