In 2016, news first broke about domestic abuse charges being brought against Johnny Depp by his then-wife Amber Heard. Heard claimed that Depp had been abusive - both verbally and physically - and that she had suffered multiple injuries in the past due to his drunken outrage.

Heard even successfully filed a restraining order against Depp, claiming that he was violent and had caused the actress multiple facial injuries.

The fallout from the incident ended up costing him his much-celebrated role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

While news died down for quite sometime after their divorce was finalised, last year more news broke that Depp was filing a $50 million lawsuit against Amber Heard for defamation after she posted a scathing op-ed in which she insinuated that Depp was physically abusive.

Since the case became public news back in early 2019, the media have gotten their hands on numerous audio recordings as well as clips from their video depositions that have called into question the original narrative provided by Heard.

In this most recent one - shared above -, you can hear Depp describe the injuries he sustained to his finger one night during a heated argument with Heard. Contrary to what we had heard before, he claims the tip of his finger was cut off after Heard threw a bottle of alcohol at him. Previously, he had claimed that he sustained the injury after his finger was caught in sliding doors. This injury had actually temporarily shut down filming of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Since news audio footage leaked of Heard corroborating some of the claims that Depp made in his deposition, rumours have been spreading that she could be fired from her role in the sequel to 2018's Aquaman. A petition that has already amassed over 400k signatures was created on Change.org calling on the producers of the film to remove her.

Should Heard be found guilty of falsifying evidence she provided in her original court case and for her restraining order, it could come with a 3-year jail sentence.
