Here's Why Robert Pattinson Refuses to Bulk Up for The Batman

Who here hasn't seen at least one Batman movie? The man needs no introduction. People all around the world know who he is and have seen his adventures on the big screen in many movies. These adaptations often featured actors who had followed rigorous training to transform into the huge, muscular character -- for example, Ben Affleck, who was forced to wear a cape, and Christian Bale, who played the superhero in Christopher Nolan's films.

Robert Pattinson is starring in the next Batman (2021)

In 2021, Robert Pattinson will be hitting the big screen as Bruce Wayne. And although Warner Bros wants him to do what previous actors did to earn their Batman suit, the 34-year-old Briton appears to have other plans. The actor explained his current situation to GQ.

Pattinson has been ghosting his trainer

At the moment, Robert Pattinson is stuck in an apartment in the studio got him in London (the rest of the time, he lives in Los Angeles). The personal trainer Warner Bros hired for him only left him a Bosu Ball and a single weight to train with. And while said trainer seems to expect the actor to use them, Pattinson isn't very motivated to do so. He told the magazine that he's never liked the idea of doing overly intense workouts to get ripped and recalled shooting for Twilight:

The one time they told me to take my shirt off, I think they told me to put it back on again.

There is such a thing as working out too much, according to the actor

Pattinson used other actors as examples to make his point.

I think if you're working out all the time, you're part of the problem. You set a precedent. No one was doing this in the '70s. Even James Dean - he wasn't exactly ripped.

On the other hand, Zoë Kravitz, who'll be playing Catwoman in the film, doesn't appear to have a problem with this. Robert Pattinson says he spoke to her on the phone, and she trains 5 times a week. Pattinson, who says he's "barely doing anything" can't compete!

Only time will tell if he'll change his mind once he's on the set of the film, or if he'll put an end to Hollywood's ripped superhero trend. You have to give him credit, though: he's started a very interesting conversation. In other news, we're still hoping to see Johnny Depp play the Joker.
