England has been making huge strides in Euro 2020 and has finally landed a spot in the semi-finals. They’ll be fighting against Denmark tonight and if they win, they’ll pull through to the finals against Italy on Sunday. The country has been swelling with football fever ever since England's continuous success and it looks the cup might actually be coming home this season.

Meanwhile London's mayor, Sadiq Khan, has been taking advantage of this unique opportunity to encourage more citizens to get vaccinated.

Golden vaccination

Currently London has the lowest vaccination rate in the UK so in order to motivate the youth to get their jabs, Khan has decided to open a Euro 2020 lottery. He’s offering residents one pair of seats at Sunday’s final which will take place in Wembley Stadium, and 50 pairs for the fan zone in Trafalgar Square.

Khan has said that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and hopes that many people will participate by getting their jabs. He said:

To help encourage more people to book their life-saving jabs, we are offering Londoners a golden opportunity to watch the Euro 2020 final in the iconic Trafalgar Square Fan Zone – with one lucky Londoner and a guest invited to see the game at the home of English football, Wembley Stadium It could be an amazing day for our nation.
We are already seeing the big difference that the vaccine is making in our fight against the virus, but the next two weeks are absolutely crucial in ensuring restrictions are lifted.
I urge all Londoners to get both doses of the vaccine as soon as possible.

How to enter

From today (7 July), unvaccinated Londoners of the city will be able to enter an online draw for the prized tickets by completing a form on www.london.gov.uk. To be eligible, all participants must be residents of the city and prove that their have either booked their appointment for the first dose, or gotten their first vaccine between 6 and 8 July. The form must be completed before 8.59am on 9 July and the winners will then be chosen at random.

Participants who post on social media about getting jabbed or booking an appointment will be entered into the competition twice. You just need to take a screenshot of the post and upload it to the form. The website says:

Your social media post could be a picture of you getting the vaccine, a selfie with your sticker, or something else encouraging people to get the vaccine.
