However, it turns out that online dating has become very popular during lockdown. The number of users on dating apps has doubled and there is no doubt that it is the safest way to avoid becoming infected and infecting others with the virus. However, there will always be someone who breaks restrictions in order to get their kicks, we can only hope that they do so safely.

So what if we told you that there was a way to get off that still keeps you safe? Well it turns out that the Canadian authorities have found the answer to this problem and it might reassure people who are afraid of becoming infected. In a public statement, the Centre for Disease Control in British Columbia made quite a blunt proposal to their residents. They said:

Use barriers, like walls (e.g., glory holes).

What is a ‘glory hole’?

Glory holes are a way to have sex, in which the male genitals are inserted into a hole in the wall in order to be satisfied by a partner on the other side. Both men and women can engage in this practice.

This type of sex can not only help spice it up in the bedroom, but it can also limit contact between partners. And if that sounds good, just keep reading.

The Centre for Disease Control also recommends other measures to keep physical contact as limited as possible during sex:

  • Wash your body and hands with soap and water before and after sex
  • Avoid or limit kissing and saliva exchange
  • Choose sexual positions that limit face-to-face contact
  • Use condoms, lubricant and dental dams
  • Wear a mask during intercourse

But all these precautionary measures aside, don’t forget that sex is good for your physical health and your psychological well-being.
