Thousands of visitors go to Bali every year to visit a Boeing 737 abandoned in the middle of a field. But where does this aircraft - which obviously hasn’t suffered a crash, but definitely isn't fit to fly - come from?
Abandoned on the Bukit peninsula on the southern tip of the island of Bali, this Boeing 737 raises a lot of questions. And with good reason.
The aircraft likely belongs to someone abandoned it there for lack of means. It has not suffered any trauma and is subject to the passage of time without anything being done to try to restore it.
Some residents thought for a moment that the Boeing aircraft should have been transformed into a restaurant. But due to a lack of financial means, its owner has simply abandoned it on this private lot, where all visits are prohibited.
This does not prevent crowds of curious visitors from seeing the plane, which has over time become a real 'hotspot' for tourists who come to Bali. It is even possible to visit the aircraft, from which all passenger seats have been removed.
'I had already heard about this plane a while back and I really wanted to see it. You can pass by the plane without noticing it. We had to go through a bush to get there.
It was fantastic and scary at the same time,' say tourists visiting the island. This is definitely not the kind of thing you see every day.
