A former model for Playboy magazine, she has just made her candidacy official on her Instagram and Facebook accounts. 'Politics is my second love. I am tired of seeing so many bad things happening in my country. Everyone is blind, our young people are emigrating and the birth rate is falling dramatically,' she wrote on Tuesday, October 8th.

At the time of this announcement, she explained her desire for a career change. 'I know that many trolls will spam my messages with negative comments because I am a star above all, but these people do not know the intellectual side of me, I remind you that I am a teacher of Italian and Roman literature,' she said.

If she wins the election, Ava Karabatic wants to legalise prostitution and the recreational use of marijuana, make child adoption easier, introduce stricter regulations on waste recycling, introduce animal protection laws and launch a sex education program in schools, among other things.
During the elections which are scheduled for December and January, Ava Karabatic will face outgoing President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, who wants to be re-elected for another 5-year term.
