The initiative is surprising, but it is nevertheless quite serious: for the purposes of a study, Amazon is currently offering a £20 gift card for a digital scan of your entire body. The aim of the approach is to learn more about the ‘diversity of body shapes,’ specifies the form put online by the firm and reported by Mashable.

Regularly pointed out for the management of its human resources, the e-commerce giant is leading this operation in collaboration with Body Labs, a start-up specialising in the 3D digitisation of the human body and acquired by Amazon in 2017, says HuffPost.
Volunteers have until June 30th to complete the form. But another condition could block those of you who would be tempted by the experiment: you must also be able to travel to New York, where the scanning laboratories will be set up.
The form also specifies that the data collected will not be used for marketing purposes, which is good to know... Then again, it does make you wonder what it's really all about...
