According to Level Push and a post made on twitter by Playstation the two-day tournament is set for February 15 and 16 and will be available only gamers who play on the Playstation 4. This is an exciting development for console players as previous Fortnite tournaments have typically been on PC much like the live Australian Summer Smash Fornite Tournament that just wrapped up this past weekend at the Australian Open.
Day one of the tournament will serve as a qualifier of sorts as any player with an account at level 15 or higher are eligible to participate. However, players still are able to receive in-game prizes in the form of new gear, provided they are able to reach the top 50% of players.
- Top 50% - Receive the "take cover" spray paint
- Top 25% - Receive the "Wild Accent" Pickaxe and spray
- Top 5% - Receive the exclusive "Tango" outfit, pickaxe and spray
Day two will separate the boys from the men when the top-performing players will be able to compete for the $1 million prize pool. The top 250-1500 players from each region will receive a piece of the prize pool, with the top prizes for each region listed below:
- Europe: $3000
- NA East: $2500
- NA West: $1200
- Brazil: $1200
- Oceania: $500
- Asia: $500
- Middle East: $500
The scoring will be similar to previous online Fortnite tournaments:
- Victory Royale - 10 Points
- 2nd - 5th place - 7 Points
- 6th to 15th place - 5 Points
- 16th to 25th place - 3 Points
- An additional point will be awarded for each elimination
Be sure to check out the Compete tab next time you log onto Fortnite on your PS4 for the specific times for your region and remember that in order to participate you will need to have 2-factor authentication enabled on your Epic account. Best of luck to all who compete!
