Life for this German man has always been difficult. Since birth German Marc Wübbenhorst has suffered from a rare biological condition forcing him to drink 20 litres a day. If he doesn't, Marc would become incredibly ill. This is Marc's story.

The amount of water seems almost impossible to consume: 20 litres a day. This is how much water German Marc Wübbenhorst must consume just to stay alive. The German possesses a rare disease that affects roughly 1 in 25,000 people: diabetes insipidus.

This form of diabetes causes an extreme thirst that is nearly impossible to quench. So extreme, that should the man stop drinking water for even an hour, the symptoms of dehydration begin to come on: dizziness, headache, and confusion.

So for the 35-year-old, staying home as much as possible is an absolute necessity. Should he ever want to go out for a full day, he’s got to lug around 20 bottles of water just to keep the effects of the disease at bay. And of course, what goes in must go out. Marc sees himself making a trip to the bathroom more than 50 times in one day. Imagine trying to get a good night sleep with that in mind...
