This is the kind of guilt-free study that makes us feel good. Tonight, have no regrets when taking out the chocolate bar; a recent study by Professor Joanna Kaluza from the University of Warsaw shows that the combination of beer, champagne and chocolate is a real winning trio! We’ll explain why.
The moment you were waiting for has arrived… scientific proof that indulging yourself (moderately) is good for you! According to Joanna Kaluza, a professor at the University of Warsaw in Poland, consuming chocolate, champagne and beer makes you live longer.
To reach this conclusion, 68,000 men and women aged between 45 and 83 were studied over a period of 16 years. They all followed an anti-inflammatory diet that consisted of eating fruit, vegetables, cheese which was low in fat, nuts... not to mention small indulgences. We are talking about coffee, tea, chocolate and alcohol in moderate amounts.
This lifestyle reduces the risk of death from all causes by 18%.
Professor Joanna Kaluza, in charge of this study explains that ‘we know that fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee, red wine, beer and chocolate are rich in antioxidants (...) our dose- response analysis indicates that even a partial adherence to an anti-inflammatory diet can be beneficial for your health.’
It's time to go do the shopping, and don’t forget the wine and chocolate!
