We know what you’re thinking – how would that even work? Moore created a questionnaire comprised of 35 questions measuring 5 key personality traits – openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. A group of 300 volunteers were asked to respond to the personality test, then categorize various whiskies based on flavour profiles. The researchers were able to identify clear connections between the two sets of data, and thus an algorithm was born.
And while this revelation seems almost too bizarre to be true, apparently the results have proven to be reliable. One fun piece of information that comes from this study: those with strong personalities across the traits seem to be attracted to much more subdued whiskies. Before you head out to buy a bottle of drink for this weekend, make sure you take this test so you can grab your dream whisky!
