Many people have tales about how they were once dead for three whole minutes but Gladys Rodríguez Duarte now has the story to beat as she woke up in a bodybag hours after being pronounced dead.
Duarte, who suffers from ovarian cancer, headed for the San Fernando Clinic in Coronel Oviedo, Paraguay one morning after experiencing a hike in blood pressure.
Just two hours after her admission, Dr Heriberto Vera declared the 46-year-old deadto her husband and daughter with a death certificate and all.
Undertakers believed they were transporting Duarte's body when they noticed she had been resurrected and had started to move.
Immediately, Duarte was rushed to intensive care. ABC Color has reported that the woman is now in a 'delicate but stable condition'.
Understandably, the woman's family was completely enraged and has laid a complaint against Dr Vera as they belive the practitioners pronounced her dead because they no longer wanted to treat her. Duarte's husband, Maximino Duarte Ferreira stated:
He assumed she was dead and handed her naked to me like an animal with her death certificate. We trusted him, that’s why we went there. But they disconnected her and passed her off to the funeral home.
However, the doctors have denied any malpractice. Fellow physician, Dr. Catalino Fabio stated:
He tried to revive her, but it was unsuccessful
Dr. Fabio suspected that Duarte must have suffered from catalepsy as the doctors could not locate her pulse which causes muscle rigidity and a lack of response to outside stimuli.
