Former Emmerdale star Danny Miller has won the nation’s hearts over the past few weeks and beat Corrie’s Simon Gregson and Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge to win I’m A Celeb 2021 on Sunday. And it turns out this year’s King of the Castle could be an even more worthy winner than we initially thought.

Danny Miller’s castle convictions

In an interview given to The Mirror after leaving the castle, Danny revealed that he stuck to castle conditions as much as he could during the campmates’ evacuation from the castle. The stars were given a brief reprieve from the cold, dank camp when Storm Arwen forced the show to go off-air for three days.

But while many of the show’s stars were said to have gorged on treats and enjoyed the comforts of a warm bed and Netflix during their time outside the castle, Danny was keen to stick to castle conditions. He said:

I stuck to beans and rice, I stuck to very little food, I stuck to being on the floor because my back was really bad anyway. I didn't want to have to go back and start craving all the foods and all the salt, the sugar, all that stuff that I've missed. Until I knew whether the show was going forward or not I was going to stick to what I signed up to, which was minimal food, the minimal kind of living conditions and sleeping conditions.

Danny Miller: King of the Castle

That’s some impressive dedication to the show! The only minor luxury Danny admitted to was washing his socks—although he says they ended up shrunk anyway. One thing’s for sure, Danny certainly deserved his castle crown.
