Donald Trump has not been the greatest advocate of wearing of a mask even since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest proof to date; during a press conference that was held on Monday 7 September at the White House, the commander in chief appeared particularly annoyed with journalist Jeff Mason, from the Reuters press agency, when the latter refused to remove his mask on several occasions when he was asked a question.

"I'll speak a lot louder"

"You're going to have to take that off, please. You can take it off," Donald Trump asked his interviewer, arguing that he could not hear his questions, as you can see in the video at the top of the article. "I'll speak a lot louder," the reporter replied.

And the president, who also recently tried to have the social network ''TikTok'' banned in the United States, didn't hesitate to crack a touch of humour a few seconds later when another journalist took off his mask to address him. "You sound so clear, as opposed to everybody else, where they refuse," he said with amusement.

Not a first

This is not the first time that Donald Trump and this particular journalist have made a public spectacle about the wearing of masks. In May, on the sidelines of a meeting organised in the gardens of the White House, the Trump even accused Jeff Mason of wanting to "appear politically correct" when the latter already refused to unmask again, as you can see in the video below.
