North Yorkshire native, Adamo Canto, has begun serving his eight month-long sentence in jail for having stolen valuable items from Buckingham Palace over the course of his time working there since 2015.

A total of 77 items were recovered when police searched his quarters at the palace's Royal Mews. Including signed photos of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and a photo album of US President Donald Trump's UK visit. The latter was said to be worth around £1500.
Lowballing his own sales
The 37-year-old made a mere £7741 after putting up 37 items for sale which also included a Companion of Bath medal belonging to the Master of the Household, which was sold online for £350, and a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order medal from the locker of former British Army officer Maj Gen Richard Sykes.
The stolen items reportedly had an actual value worth between £10K and £100K confirmed by prosecutor Simon Maughan.
Vice Admiral Master Tony Johnstone-Burt reports having first noticed that his medal was missing after not being able to wear it for the Queen's Trooping the Colour and was later told that it was seen on eBay for sale.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Canto gained further responsibilities and was granted access to offices and other areas he did not previously have permission to go to.
Adamo Canto pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court to three counts of theft between 11 November 2019 and 7 August 2020.
