We Finally Know How Long Sony Will Continue to Support the PS4 After the PS5 Launch

In November, almost all eyes will be fixated on the Playstation 5, Sony’s new console. But the arrival of this new Playstation fortunately does not mean that we will have to completely discard our old PS4s…

In a few weeks, Playstation console fans will only have one thing on their minds: getting their hands on the eagerly awaited Playstation 5 expected to drop on 19th November at a pretty crazy price. Those who are waiting for this newest member of the Playstation family to arrive will finally be able to get their hands on the PS5, which is supposed to be a technological revolution. But don’t discard your Playstation 4 just yet…

Another 3-4 years to fully enjoy our PS4s

Although the PS5 will most definitely eclipse its big sister quite quickly over the next few months, PS4 lovers don’t have to worry just yet. The second best-selling games console of all time (more than 100 million copies sold worldwide) will not be abandoned straight away by Sony, who was been trolled for a few days by one of their biggest rivals. The success of this console has pushed Sony to decide to continue operating the eighth generation console, which is also one of the heaviest consoles in history…

In July, Sony announced that they would continue to support the PS4 after the Playstation 5 has been released, but they had not released any information specific to how long this support would continue. Recently, Jim Ryan, CEO of Playstation, has provided more details on the Playstation 4’s future lifespan. According to him, the console will be supported for the next 3-4 years, which is sure to reassure many PS4 lovers who, until recently, were worried that they would be completely and immediately abandoned after the PS5 dropped. However, one very mysterious little detail has also sparked some fans’ curiosity.

In case you weren’t aware, the Playstation 3 was supported by Sony for 4 years after the PS4 was released. That means that this strategy will be similar, especially since the current health crisis will logically have impacted the PS5's production process. And so on the agenda for the next 3-4 years, we can expect versions of new games that will be released for PS5 as well as titles from smaller games developers or independent studios. In the meantime however, check out this hidden PS4 feature that very few people know about…
