Gendry, the legitimate heir to the throne?

Gendry isn’t a very big character in the series. He appeared in the first season next to Arya as the bastard son of King Robert Baratheon, but he didn’t know where he came from. He disappeared on a boat during the third season and then reappeared in the seventh.

Played by Joe Dempsie, he told Men’s Health about the future of his character. You can find his interview in the video at the top of this article. The actor raises an interesting question: ‘Who is Gendry’s mother?’ At first, no one cared about his mother, and yet she could prove to be very important. The young man only remembers that she was blonde and that she used to sing to him... Could it be Cersei?

Remember during season 1 when the Lannister Queen told Lady Stark about a child with brown hair that she lost? Could Gendry be this child? It doesn’t seem very likely. However, if it proves to be true, that would make Gendry the rightful heir to the throne. Maybe this could be THE key to finally put an end to Cersei’s reign! One thing is for sure, this character’s future is closely linked to the iron throne, and we can’t wait to find out how!
