This yoga instructor probably has a thing or two to teach you! Dana Glowacka has just destroyed the world record for planking by nearly an hour.
During an event organised for the 18th of May 2019 in her hometown of Montreal, the Canadian held the plank position for 4 hours and 20 minutes! So, she destroyed the record set by the Cypriot, Maria Kalimera, by 50 minutes.
Trained by a previous world record holder, Dana Glowacka was fixated on breaking the world record for years. In 2016, the new world record holder held the plank for 2 hours and 5 minutes during the planking world cup in Beijing. 3 years on, Dana Glowacka succeeded in doubling her time to win the title.
Interestingly, it was at the Beijing event in 2016 that her trainer lost her record to a Chinese special forces soldier who had planked for 8 hours. The retired soldier finished 20 minutes before, beating their personal best by 4 hours.
If you’re still a long way from this level, here are some tips to improve your abdominal plank. And if you wish to spice up the exercise a bit, you can try planking with your arms extended to work your abdominals even more.
