It was the fight that the world had been waiting for several years, the confrontation between the best wrestler and the best striker in the UFC: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor.

After more than two years of trash-talking, the UFC made the fight official, allowing the two men to settle their dispute within the octagon. A chaotic Fight Week later, Khabib and Conor both entered the octagon for the undisputed lightweight champion's belt.

Unfortunately for Notorious fans, the battle quickly turned to Khabib's advantage, where he mobilised his strategy to gradually overcome the Irishman's will. The second round was more of the same for the Russian, who knocked down McGregor, and ended the round with a powerful ground and pound.

Despite a third-round won by Conor McGregor, The Eagle did not panic, and started the fourth round like the previous ones, by bringing his opponent to the ground.

After much hard work, Khabib eventually secured a stranglehold that allowed him to keep his lightweight title. The rest is known to everyone, and we hope to never see a scene like that again in any MMA event.
