His concept? The main airplane cabin is a capsule that fits into the cockpit. In case of a crash, this capsule containing all the passengers comes off and is supported by parachutes that unfold.
Inflators are even secured on the sides of this capsule in case the crash takes place above the ocean. Dozens and dozens of lives could be saved. The only drawback: the plane ticket in a device equipped with this technology - which is still on a project-basis - would be more expensive.
