Good news for those who hate showering. A group of experts have informed Time Magazine that you should actually only be washing twice a week - under no circumstances should you beshowering every day.
Elaine Larson, a professor at Columbia University, recently said in a study conducted by Time Magazine:
I think showering is mostly for aesthetic reasons. People think they’re showering for hygiene or to be cleaner, but bacteriologically, that’s not the case.
In fact, she recommends showering only twice a week and no more! Dr C. Brandon Mitchell from George Washington University add:
Your body is naturally a well-oiled machine. A daily shower isn’t necessary.
Effects on the hydrolipid film
It’s important not to wash too often because when you do, the protective film on your skin doesn’t have enough time to regenerate and so daily showers strip the body of all their necessary, natural oils.
However, Dr Larson does recommend washing your genital areas, face and hands more frequently than the rest of the body, especially to avoid getting frequent infections.
But if you really can’t do without your daily shower, at least try not to wash your hair every time!
