In the new trailer released by 20th Century Fox, Game Of Thrones' Sophie Turner takes centre-stage as Jean Grey - an incredibly powerful mutant who has telekinetic and telepathic abilities - as she battles with herself and her alternate Phoenix identity.
Fans of the X-Men franchise don't have to wait much longer for the next instalment, as X Men: Dark Phoenix is set to hit cinemas on 7th June. And if the epic trailer that's just been dropped is anything to go by, it's going to be seriously good.
Game Of Thrones' Sophie Turner takes on the lead role in the film, as her character Jean Grey comes to the forefront. Sophie previously played Jean Grey in 2016's X Men: Apocalypse, with Famke Janssen playing her in the previous X-Men films.
Set in 1992, Dark Phoenix takes place 10 years after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse and sees Jean Grey lose control of her powers after the X-Men are hit by a solar flare during a space rescue mission, unleashing her alter-ego, the eponymous Dark Phoenix.
Sophie Turner has also revealed that this film is 'a lot more emotion-based' than previous movies in the franchise, telling Digital Spy that 'There are, of course, those supernatural elements, but this one is really character-driven – a really emotional story about a girl battling with a deadly mix of mental health problems and being a superhero.'
The film also stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Michael Fassbender as Magneto. Jessica Chastain also joins the cast in a new role as an alien shapeshifter who has been described as 'the devil on Jean's shoulder'.
