The previous owner of the marionette doll, Debbie Merrick, warned them that after a few weeks, the strange object had started ‘attacking’ her husband, scratching him in his sleep, removing her necklace and even disconnecting the smoke alarms. However, this didn’t stop the potential buyers from bidding on the doll on eBay. In fact, quite the opposite, many people have an interest in the paranormal, and the hefty sum of $1,100 (£900) won the auction.

Lee Steer, aparanormal investigator’ from Rotherham was the lucky winner of the auction. And it didn’t take long for the first signs of a haunting to appear. The 30-year-old man explained:

My dad was downstairs in the morning, at this point the doll was still packed away, and he heard like a tapping noise on wood. He said it was a bit unusual.

‘Your dad’s getting affected’

‘Later that day he was watching the repeat of one of our live streams with the doll. I was doing a live stream upstairs in my room. Then, he said to my mum, "My arm’s hurting"' continued the paranormal enthusiast.

‘He had six scratches on his arm. My mum shouted to me, ‘Lee, you best get downstairs – your dad’s getting affected. He’s got scratches on him.’

According to Lee, these scratches looked just like the ones that Debbie’s husband (the previous owner) had experienced.

‘We’ve gone months without anything unusual happening and as soon as this doll is mentioned things start happening,’ said the 30-year-old, who claimed that a picture frame that he had hung on the wall in his bedroom ‘completely dismantled itself’ a few days later:

‘We did a live stream opening of the doll that 35,000 people watched […] And people contacted me saying they could see the doll’s eyes moving.’

Less and less comforting, especially the latest news that Lee has absolutely no intention of parting with this haunted marionette doll
