Why do the Simpsons have yellow skin? This is a question that more than one fan of the cult series has asked.
Fortunately, after 29 seasons, this great mystery has just been resolved by one of the writers. In his latest book titled 'Springfield Confidential: Jokes, Secrets and Outright Lies From a Lifetime Writing for The Simpsons,' the showrunner Mike Reiss explained why the characters were given their now-iconic yellow colour.
In fact, it was Matt Groening (the creator of the Simpson) who did not want a demarcation between their skin and their blond hair. That's why Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and all the others are yellow as lemons!
In addition, this yellow colour was a powerful means at the very beginning for their creator to grab the viewers' attention. Indeed, before the Simpsons, what other cartoon characters had dared to adopt this bright hue? No one! A rather wise choice, then.
