It feels as though this year’s series of I’m A Celeb has only just begun but we’re now just a couple of days away from the final. On Sunday, either Frankie Bridge, Adam Woodyatt, Simon Gregson, David Ginola, Matty Lee or Danny Miller will be crowned King or Queen of the Castle. But last year’s Queen of the Castle Giovanna Fletcher won’t be present to pass on her crown.

Why Giovanna won't appear

Traditionally, the previous year’s winner of I’m A Celeb makes a brief appearance in the final to hand the winner their crown. Sadly, this is another tradition that has been cancelled due to coronavirus safety precautions. A source told The Sun:

ITV would have loved to have Giovanna back, she was a hugely popular winner last year. But due to Covid rules — even with the show coming to an end on Sunday — it was decided they couldn’t take the risk without her isolating, which is a lot to ask for a one-minute cameo.

Producers faced the same problem last year—and third-placed Vernon Kay stepped in to crown Giovanna in the place of 2019 winner Jacqueline Jossa. It seems likely producers might opt for a similar solution this year.

Who will win I’m A Celeb 2021?

Of the six campmates remaining, football legend David Ginola is the bookies’ favourite to take the crown. He’s followed by Emmerdale star Danny Miller and Corrie actor Simon Gregson in the odds. Last woman standing Frankie Bridge is also in with a decent chance. Meanwhile, EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt and Olympic diver Matty Lee are outsiders and would cause a major upset if either of them managed to scoop a shock win.
