I'm A Celeb: This is the real reason Richard Madeley had to leave I’m A Celeb

I’m A Celeb 2021 star Richard Madeley has opened up about why he had to be rushed out of camp to hospital last week.

After just a few days in camp, presenter Richard Madeley was forced to make an early exit from I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2021 last week. He was rushed to hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning and despite making a full recovery, he has been unable to return to camp as he had broken the show’s COVID bubble.

Why did Richard Madeley leave I’m A Celeb?

Some fans speculated that Richard might have fallen ill due to the Castle Kitchen Nightmares trial he took part in on Tuesday, which saw him covered in fish guts, offal and rotting fruit, veg and eggs. However, this does not seem to have been the case after all. In an appearance on Good Morning Britain this morning, Richard revealed the truth behind his mystery illness. He said:

I think what happened to me was, I think I got dehydrated, that's all it was. But dehydration is actually quite disturbing. It's not a pleasant thing. I think I had been up for 20 hours the day before, and the day before that having very long days. We were sleeping quite late. I don’t think I got to bed until four or four-thirty in the morning and I knew I was feeling thirsty. I'm quite bad at remembering to drink actually, drink water.

He continued:

As I snuggled into my sleeping bag, it was freezing, I thought 'I haven't had a big drink for a while, I'll do it when I wake up'. The next thing I knew I was sitting there babbling. I don't know. I was talking nonsense. I didn't know where I was, what was going on and I could hardly string a sentence together.

Is Richard Madeley OK?

Richard confirmed that his illness was ‘harmless’ and that he has made a full recovery. He is merely ‘gutted’ to have had to leave the show so early.
