I’m A Celeb: The Celebrity Cyclone could be cancelled due to Storm Barra

One of the most popular I’m A Celeb features risks being cancelled if the weather is too bad.

In another blow forI’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2021, one of the show’s most beloved trials, could be cancelled. According to The Sun, construction of the Celebrity Cyclone set was paused earlier this week due to heavy wind and rain - and there’s a chance the challenge will have to be cancelled altogether.

Celebrity Cyclone 2021

A source who spoke to The Sun said:

Producers are panicking a bit. It’s the centrepiece of the whole series, and what many of the celebrities say is the point in the show they want to get to. Production staff are frantically checking the weather ahead of filming it later this week. They’ve got ten different weather apps on the go telling them minute-by-minute updates.

They continued:

The Cyclone is hard work anyway, let alone if you’re falling on frozen water. They fear if it does go ahead it might be the first time since its inclusion in the show that no one gets to the end of it.

What is the Celebrity Cyclone?

Since it was first introduced in 2006, the Celebrity Cyclone trial has become a key part of I’m A Celeb. It sees the final three or four campmates attempt to collect giant stars while being blasted with foam, water, wind and balls. It tends to take place a day or two before the final—so we imagine the plan would be to film on Friday or Saturday.

Traditionally, campmates take part in the Celebrity Cyclone dressed as superheroes, but last year’s series saw Giovanna Fletcher, Shane Richie, Vernon Kay and Jordan North dressed as knights to match the castle theme. Producers are reportedly considering dressing the campmates in ski suits this year to protect them from the bitter cold.
