This Island Is Known As 'The Most Alien Place On Earth' And Here's Why

The island of Socotra, also is aptly called "the extraterrestrial island". Located off the coast of Yemen in the Arabian Sea, this piece of land is home to unique flora and fauna as it has created and developed its own ecosystem. Join us as we take a journey to the land of the unknown...

On this island, you can admire cucumber trees and dragon blood trees that produce a red resin and seem to grow upside down, but also no less than 700 species unique in the world. Located in the Arabian Sea, 350 km off the coast of Yemen, Socotra is a pure and untouched jewel.

Some species there have not changed in over 20 million years. And this is because the island has long been cut off from the world because it is difficult to access. The island of Socotra has been a Unesco World Heritage site since 2008. Several tribes have settled there, with a population of about 40,000 on this 'extraterrestrial' land.
