At the age of 42, Yusaka Maezawa is a Japanese billionaire who made his fortune by selling clothes on line, but he is also a contemporary art collector. On his trip, he therefore decided to go with a handful of artists.

‘In 2023, as the host, I would like to invite six to eight artists from around the world to join me on this mission to the moon,’ explained the businessman during a press conference.

‘These artists will be asked to create something after they return to Earth, and these masterpieces will inspire the dreamer within all of us.’

‘A lot of money’

Elon Musk hasn’t revealed how much this voyage will cost. The famous businessman is happy to say that he is paying ‘a lot of money,’ noting that he doesn’t think that ‘it’s more than 10 [billion dollars] or less than 2 [billion dollars].’ In total, the mission should last between 4 to 5 days, during which the rocket will leave Earth’s orbit, go around the moon and return to Earth.
