Body image issues

Many men worry about the size of their penis; they think it’s too small. But research has shown that these worries, like every other insecurities we have about our bodies, are unfounded. Professor Kevan Wylie, a sexual medicine consultant, said most men have normal-sized penises.

Many men who worry about the size of their penis generally have overall body image issues. What happens is that they tend to focus their poor body image on their penis.

So if you think your penis is smaller than average, you might actually possess a decent and average penis size. Micropenis and Peyronies disease are both rare conditions that may cause a smaller penis.

Prof Wylie cautions that before men go in for these male enhancement products, they should first talk to a health professional. According to him:

Often, counselling can make a real difference to the patient by building self-esteem, correcting distorted views about body image and learning more about what makes people attractive.

Does a person's hand size really predict their penis size?

Does penis size matter when it comes to sex?

Do they work?

The simple is No! The NHS says, contrary to what manufacturers claim, there is no clinical evidence to suggest that pills can boost an individual’s sexual performance or increase penis length or girth. Prof Wylie stated:

They're a complete waste of time. Pills and lotions have no proven benefit. If they were effective, they would be on sale at chemists.

Apart from being ineffective, they could be harmful because most of them have not been scientifically tested to be safe. They may contain drugs for treating erectile dysfunction or enlarged prostate.

This could give an illusion of a longer penis, as it makes it easier to achieve and maintain an erection. Also, taking pills meant for a different medical condition could have long term impact on sexual health.
