Many people decide to play the field before starting a stable relationship, just as a way of enjoying their youth. Scientists at the University of Utah in the United States have revealed that one should have had on average 10 sexual partners before starting a healthy and long-lasting relationship. This threshold is a maximum that should not be exceeded.

Nicholas H. Wolfinge, one of the professors behind this study, came up with a formula that shows that people who have had more than 10 conquests would not stay together with their partner for more than five years once married. This study shows that a person who has had a lot of relationships is likely to be less satisfied and more demanding in their relationship. They would also be able to see right away if the relationship is working or not.
