Missionary position is so popular because it really brings couples closer together. However, sexologists have recently revealed a variant of this position which is capable of heightening the pleasure that women get from it.
By moving just a few centimetres back, the base of the man’s penis is able to brush and rub against his partner’s clitoris. According to a study published in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, 56% of women that don’t normally orgasm in missionary position claim that they do so more often when they use this this ‘coital alignment technique’.
Psychologist and sexologist Megan Fleming from the United States, as quoted in the HuffPost, explained that most women need clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm.
‘Roughly two-thirds of women don’t have an orgasm with penetration alone. CAT (the coital alignment technique) offers direct pressure and rocking and grinding that gives women additional clitoral stimulation,’ she explained.
