After the absolutely massive success of AM in 2013 and subsequent tour the year after, the Sheffield group decided to put things on the back-burner for an indefinite amount of time much to the dismay of their fans. On January 11th this year, they gave us a hint that they were gearing up for something big.
At the same time these cryptic clues were released, the band officially announced their return to the festival scene and will play a date at American Festival Firefly this June, co-headlining an already stacked line-up along with other artists like Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and The Killers.
But now we have a new album to look forward too and it’s going to be huge. Taking to both their Twitter and Instagram, they announced that their new album titled, Tranquillity Base Hotel & Casino, will be released on Friday 11th May 2018.
What's more, they have now also announced a series of UK and and Ireland tour dates in September 2018:
06/09: Manchester Arena
07/09: Manchester Arena
09/09: London, The 02
10/09: London, The 02
15/09: Birmingham Arena
18/09: Sheffield, FlyDSA Arena
19/09: Sheffield, FlyDSA Arena
24/09: Dublin, 3Arena
27/09: Newcastle, Metro Radio Arena
Both the album and the tour have been a long time coming for Arctic Monkeys fans. According to bassist Nick O’Malley, the Sheffield band have been hard at work in studio preparing their new album since last September. Now if this doesn’t mark the start of summer we don’t know what does. Get in!
