This 70-year-old boxer made his comeback, 36 years after his last fight, and won by KO!

70-year-old Albert Hughes has just been added to the Guinness Book of World Records for becoming the Oldest Active Fighter in the world. And the cherry on top of the cake, he won by KO.

Albert, 70 years old, a professional boxer

On Saturday 14th December 2019, Albert Hughes was added to the Guinness Book of World Records for being the oldest active fighter in the world. At the age of 70, and 36 years after his last fight, the American climbed back into the ring to take on Tramane Towns, a fighter 27 years younger than him.

During this incredible fight, Albert Hughes really stood out, sending his opponent to the floor twice before then winning byKO. This was also Albert’s eleventh victory since his professional career began in 1975.

Incredible proof that you can still do amazing things in sport no matter how old you are. Albert Hughes wasn't necessarily a world-class boxer back in his prime, but at 70 years old, simply winning a boxing match is still a massive victory.
