Across all combat sports, very few champions can compete with Mike Tyson in terms of strength. Out of his 50 career wins, the youngest ever world heavyweight champion has delivered 44 knockouts. Iron Mike, who was once capable of scaring his opponents (like Michael Spinks) before they even get into the ring, liked to finish his fights as quickly as possible.
His intimidating aura and extraordinary physical abilities have given rise to many fantasies among mixed martial arts fans. Imagine what Tyson would have been able to do with gloves as thin as those in the UFC?
An unknown physical characteristic
Although there was a lot of talk about a possible dispute between Fedor Emelianenko and the boxer at the Pride, the rumours were never confirmed. The former world champion had shared that he would have loved to have a cage-fight, but he was singing a different tune in a recent interview with GQ.
I don’t know what I would do in the UFC, because I watched the UFC a couple of times, and I watched these guys step on people’s feet. And I have the worst feet in the world, and if somebody stepped on my feet I would totally tap out and just give up. It would be a no-brainer.
