In the main bouts of UFC 239, Luke Rockhold was making his debut in his new category. A new start, with a clear ambition to go for the Under 205 lbs title held by Jon Jones. The only downside was that the American crossed paths with a class-leading fighter in Jan Blachowicz. The Pole not only ruined Rockhold's dreams but perhaps ended his career.

It is with a left hook that the Pole got his biggest victory. A victory that he reflected on, when talking to Megan Olivi :

‘I don’t believe it yet, but I feel great. Tomorrow, when I wake up with a hangover, I’ll know what I have done. The beginning of the fight was for him, but the end was for me. I felt great in the fight, it was my night. I saw his left hand in my dreams all the time, I knew it would come. I don’t know how many times I watched his fight against Michael Bisping, I knew I would finish in the same way.’
