Fans SLAM 'Toe-Curling' And 'Cringy' Inbetweeners Reunion

The Inbetweeners were back on our screens for a two-hour special on New Year's Day but despite the fact that so many of our old favourites were reunited, many fans were left disappointed by the episode.

We were all over the moon when it was announced that Will, Simon, Jay and Neil would be getting back together for a special festive episode this New Year's Day - but the highly-anticipated episode ended up being rather underwhelming.

Hosted by Jimmy Carr, the episode took the form of a panel show, with Simon Bird (Will), Joe Thomas (Simon), Blake Harrison (Neil) and James Buckley (Jay) sharing their thoughts and memories of making the show - including the fact that James Buckley once almost died whilst filming. There were a lot of laughs to be had but many fans had been under the impression that Fwends Reunited was going to be a brand-new episode rather than a recap of clips from the old series and movies.

Angry fans took to Twitter to blast the show as 'painful' and 'toe-curlingly bad', with many suggesting the four main stars looked bored and as if they didn't want to be there. Lots of fans were also outraged about the fact that Emily Atack had been cut from the show entirely - receiving the news just the day before the episode was filmed. Meanwhile, many slammed the choice of Jimmy Carr - who had nothing to do with the original show - as host, suggesting that Greg Davies, who played Mr. Gilbert in the series, would have been a better choice.
