So we thought we would look into cannabis-infused personal lubricants to see just how much of an effect this can have on your sex life. And who knows, maybe it's worth going out and getting some to test out with your partner (or by yourself if that tickles your fancy).

What exactly are cannabis-infused products?

Essentially, all of these novel inventions contain both or either THC and/or CBD. The former—tetrahydrocannabinol, the stuff that actually gets you high—and the latter—cannabinol, often marketed as having medicinal properties—are two chemical compounds found in cannabis plants.

Whatever the kind, lubes that contain either or both these ingredients are said to have the ability to increase the overall quality of your sexual encounters. However, scientific research has only slightly backed these claims up. Ultimately, it seems as though this is more of a case-by-case situation that involves some level of placebo effect.

What are the supposed health benefits?

An American study conducted by Remedy Review which sampled 5,398 participants found that 66% of them who specifically used CBD-infused lubricants during sex noticed a decrease in levels of anxiety. Even more promising, 72% of men and 76% of women said their orgasms were much stronger and more pleasurable. Finally, 98% of all respondents said they experienced less soreness after finishing up a session of love-making using a CBD-infused lube.

Data collected from this study found that, to some extent, a considerable amount of respondents noticed the quality of their sex increased thanks to this sex product. When asked what specifically changed for the better, answers given ranged from alleviating pain and anxiety during sex to increasing arousal and the power of their orgasm. More specifically, male respondents said they were able to last longer and have harder erections, while female respondents claimed that they were able to achieve orgasm quicker.

The only way to find out if these claims are true is for you to try it for yourself. Make sure you speak to your partner first before jumping into new adventures.
