After 6 Deaths And Hundreds Of Illnesses Linked To Vaping, Is It Time For You To Quit?

Numerous reports declare that vaping has contributed to a plethora of illnesses and six deaths, prompting people to ask the question: is vaping as safe as we once thought?

Federal health officials in the United States have issued a warning to the public in regards to vaping. Several people have fallen ill—and some instances have proven to be fatal—due to the once-assumed-safe e-cigarette.

Once upon a time, not so long ago, people believed that vaping acted as a healthy alternative to smoking. More often than not, when smokers quit, they invest in a vape to help ease them off of cigarettes.

But the ever-increasing illnesses and spike in sudden vaping-related deaths have health experts (and the public) questioning if vaping is a viable option for smokers who want to quit.

The New England Journal of Medicine expressed their concern, “there is clearly an epidemic that begs for an urgent response.” They also wanted doctors to warn their patients about vaping.

When it comes to vaping, it’s advised not to buy your products from the street. However, other sources note that the lack of regulations can deter legitimate shops from recognising if the liquid comes from a valid source.

Vapes changed the market when it first came out, but people didn’t know too much about the e-cigarette phenomenon when it first hit the shelves. The product lacked scientific evidence and research. However, now the lengthy list of hospitalizations and six fatalities have prompted several health experts to warn the public against using a vape.

Most of us are well aware that vaping and smoking hurt our lungs. However, one health expert notes, “The safest route is FDA- approved smoking-cessation medications” such as “gum, patches, nasal sprays, and lozenges.”
