By scoring a hat-trick in the Champions League semi-final against Ajax Amsterdam (2-3), Lucas Moura made football history and entered a very select club of only four players!
Who could have imagined Lucas Moura would help qualify his team for the Champions League final with a hat-trick when he left Paris Saint-Germain in January 2018? After five relatively average seasons in Paris, showing an inability to raise his game in the big matches, Lucas came to Tottenham with the idea of becoming a better football player. And thanks to his work and the quality of his coach, the Brazilian succeeded in doing so. His hat-trick in the Champions League semi-final proved it, and his entry into the very select club of players who succeeded in this feat has put him on the map forever.
Before him, only 4 players had achieved such a performance, and not just any players. Alessandro Del Piero was the first, in 1998 against AS Monaco. Still facing a French club, Ivica Olic was unstoppable against Lyon in 2010 and scored a huge hat-trick to qualify Bayern for the final. In yet another category, Robert Lewandowski scored a four-goal game against Real in the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2013. Finally, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo is also a member of the club, with his hat-trick against Atletico in 2017.
Now, this very select club also welcomes Lucas Moura, who is only 26 years old and still has plenty of time to have the career he promised.
