Lashana Lynch Confirmed as the New James Bond

The actress recently confirmed that she will play James Bond 007! It's the first time for a black actress to join the franchise with such an important role. This announcement has let the fans divided.

It's happening! The MI6 spy will be played by the British actress Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel,Still Star-Crossed). The one who will now wear the black suit of 007 replacing Daniel Craig, is already facing a colossal enemy: the saga's fans' racism. Lynch opened up on Harper's Bazaar:

I am one Black woman—if it were another Black woman cast in the role, it would have been the same conversation, she would have got the same attacks, the same abuse

But to be clear: Lynch will be playing Nomi. For the moment, Nomi does not have a vocation to become James Bond. Indeed, in No Time To Die, we will learn that Daniel Craig's James Bond is retiring, and is therefore replaced by Nomi (Lashana Lynch). Nomi will inherit the title of 007 while James Bond is away. Upon his return, she loses this title.

A difficult succession

In a recent interview, the actress confirmed the news, which was a bit of an open secret. While the producers are fighting to release the new film, No Time to Die, here's a nice piece of news relayed by Harper's Bazaar. While producers are now asking for 600 million dollars to sell the film to Netflix or Apple TV, nobody has wanted to buy it yet.

This new controversy will surely scare off potential customers. Lashana Lynch reassures fans by saying that whatever the choice, it would not have been the right one in the eyes of the spectators.

I just have to remind myself that the conversation is happening and that I'm a part of something that will be very, very revolutionary,

As with any change of this magnitude, not all fans welcome to the news. However, the actress explains that she has put 100% honesty into her role and that the first feedbacks from the early screenings were very encouraging. Rumour has it that the studio is getting more and more names for the new Bond character, including Tom Hardy.

A few days after Sean Connery's passing, this news ensures the continuation of the James Bond saga!
