Elvis Presley was the pioneer of Rock'n Roll. After a successful career, the King died on August 16th, 1977 in Memphis. Nearly 40 years later, his ex-wife Priscilla Presley came forward to make revelations about the inner demons who plagued the star.
Elvis Presley made a name for himself in the 1950s. He revolutionised the world of music and his influence on musical culture was considerable. While on Good Morning Britain, Priscilla Presley, who was married to Elvis from 1967 to 1973, talked about the demons who plagued the singer.
Demons that were always there
Like all great artists, Elvis Presley's life was tumultuous. Drugs and medications were combined with a fatty diet.
Quickly, the singer's health declined until he became obese and unrecognisable. He died at the age of 42 due to health problems and left America in mourning.
According to Priscilla, the King never recovered from the loss of his mother with whom he was very close. The woman who shared part of her life with the artist says today:
‘Elvis was a thinker. He was a searcher. His mother had demons, his father had demons. We all have demons obviously; I don’t want to make it bigger than it is. They were a close family but there was always a little bit of sadness in them.’
