A rare disease that turns the penis into bone…
However, the first examination carried out in the hospital had not found anything significant in the 60-year-old's joints. But the second test, a pelvic x-ray taken as a precautionary measure, revealed that the man had a deformed hip and a complete calcification... of the penis.
As explained by the doctors, who detailed their unusual discovery in the Urology Case Reports medical journal, the patient suffers from a rare form of Peyronie's disease, a disease that affects between 3 and 9% of the male population, mainly aged 45 to 65 years, and causes deformities and pain in the penis, which leads to a hardening of the penis, thus causing it to become similar to a bone.

This diagnosis is unusual, to say the least, since according to the article published in Urology Case Reports, cases of complete ossification remain extremely rare. In total, less than 40 similar cases have been reported in international medical literature, the article states.
