A nasty blow to the ribcage

Not only had the athlete been fighting off a chest infection for several weeks—which was supposedly not going to interfere with the fight—he had also received a blow to the rib which left him unable to even throw a punch. The father explained:

He's had a bacterial chest infection for about six or seven weeks, but that didn't bother us, we were going to battle through that. But owing to a complete idiot in the gym, punched him in the ribs. A man of 16 or 17 stone with his bare knuckle, punched him in the ribs and broke his ribs.

And added:

At the end of the day, I was horrified, we were going to try and battle through it, because when we got him x-rayed they said, 'No, it's just bruised, it's ligament damage. And then, he was sparring and he couldn't throw a punch, he couldn't move. He said, 'Look, I'm in bad pain dad.'

Jake Paul's response.

Following the withdrawal which left Fury in utter disappointment, Jake Paul came out with a statement insulting the injured boxer, calling him 'boxing's biggest b**ch.' Since, Paul has even said that he might not want to reschedule the fight. Speaking to TMZ, he said:

I don’t know. I don’t know if I want to give him it anymore. I might just leave him the dust. This was the biggest opportunity of his life… so it might be a little cynical but I think it be kind of fun to not give him the chance again.
