The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, ended with the release of Fifty Shades Freed. But the series almost landed a very different star – none other than Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke! Check out the video above to find out why she turned the films down…
She may be best known for her starring role as Daenerys Targaryen on Game Of Thrones, but it turns out Emilia Clarke almost starred in another massive franchise - the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy!
Emilia recently revealed that she was offered the role of Anastasia Steele in the movies - but turned them down despite her admiration for the trilogy's original director, Sam Taylor-Johnson. But it wasn't because she had any disdain for the erotic thriller series.
'Well, Sam [Taylor-Johnson, the director] is a magician. I love her, and I thought her vision was beautiful,' Emilia told the Hollywood Reporter at their Drama Actress roundtable, before going on to explain her reasons for not accepting the role.
